Finding Contentment in Your Uniqueness

contentTake a stroll through social media, and you’ll soon realize this truth: no two homeschools are exactly alike. You’ll find photos of elaborate homeschool classrooms with abundant supplies, and you’ll find photos of kids learning at their kitchen table. You’ll also come across a variety of teaching styles and curriculum choices.

Reflection of the Week:

There are many factors that contribute to the uniqueness of each homeschool – beliefs, personality, family size, and socioeconomic elements, just to name a few.

Realizing and appreciating the uniqueness of your homeschool will bring about contentment within your heart and within your children. On the other hand, seeing the uniqueness of your homeschool as a shortcoming can lead to envy, dissatisfaction, and internal unrest that will ultimately harm yourself and your children.

It’s okay to aim higher and to admire other homeschools. But do it with a content heart, giving thanks to God for your current blessings and giving thanks for blessings to come.

Scripture of the Week:

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. – Hebrews 13:5

Prayer:

God, help me to appreciate the uniqueness of my homeschool, in Christ Jesus’ name, Amen.
