Speaking Encouraging Words

devotionMany home educators have set the bar high for their children, and that’s perfectly understandable. We want our children to excel, and we want the homeschool experience to reach a successful outcome.

But in order for our children to reach “the bar”, we have to set a higher bar for ourselves in the area of speaking encouraging words.

Reflection of the Week:

The difference between a student who excels and a student who struggles is often not a matter of intellect. The difference often lies in what the student hears. A “you can do it” or “keep up the great work” can motivate our children to reach their goals, and perhaps exceed them. Let’s fill our children’s ears with words that are good and uplifting – words that are blessings to their ears.

Scripture of the Week:

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. – Ephesians 4:29

God, guide me to speak encouraging words to my children, in Christ Jesus’ name, Amen.
