Providing Understanding

understandingNo matter how well you’ve planned or how helpful the curriculum, when it comes to particular lessons, sometimes children just “don’t get it”. This can be especially trying when it’s a lesson that you have allotted a specific amount of time to complete or the lesson is seemingly simple.

Reflection of the Week:

With certain lessons, providing understanding will come with extra costs – the cost of taking time to research different approaches to teaching the lesson, extra one-on-one time with your student, the cost of extending your school calendar, or in some cases, it may even cost you money.

But whatever the cost, it’s worth it. Providing understanding is the essence of teaching. And understanding is the essence of learning.

Scripture of the Week:

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. –Proverbs 4:7

God, help me to teach in ways that provide understanding, in Christ Jesus’ name, Amen.
