This is Ministry

When you hear the word minister, what comes to mind? A preacher at a podium facing packed pews on a blessed Sunday morning? Okay, so maybe the pews aren’t packed and maybe it’s Wednesday night Bible study instead of Sunday morning, but I think most of us can agree that the word minister brings a preacher to mind.

Because of our mental images, it may feel awkward to see yourself as a minister or to see your work of homeschooling as ministry. Yet, the true meaning of the word minister is servant, and the heart of a servant is at the heart of every successful homeschool.

Reflection of the Week:

See homeschooling for what is truly is, ministry – a chance to serve our children an education centered on the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

It’s hard to lose heart once you’ve realized the “bigger picture”: THIS IS MINISTRY.

Scripture of the Week:

Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not lose heart. – 2 Corinthians 4:1
