Building Healthy Relationships

Healthy relationships and educating go hand in hand. Studies show that student achievement increases when the student-teacher connection is positive, interpersonal, and engaging.

Homeschooling can offer the ideal situation to build strong relationships through educating. However, pressure to meet academic goals can cause an imbalance – creating a homeschool atmosphere that is too academic-focused and insufficiently relationship-focused.

Reflection of the Week:

Building strong relationships builds strong students. When we reach the hearts of our children – listening to them and sharing our stories, making effort to understand their emotions and thoughts, and consistently encouraging them – not only will we build healthy relationships, but those relationships can be the foundation of an enjoyable and thriving learning environment.

Scripture of the Week:

Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. –1 Thessalonians 5:11

Dear God, may healthy relationships be at the center of our homeschool, in Christ Jesus’ name, Amen.
