Why and when did you decide to homeschool your children?

Early last year, I was praying and asked God to make my family feel more whole. He told me that in order to do that, I needed to bring my children home and start homeschooling them. It was the middle of a school year, so my husband and I decided to use the remaining school year to plan and prepare for our new journey.

What’s your goal as a home educator?

To create a foundation for my children’s relationship with God and give them the best academic education that I can, while experiencing the physical world around them.

What do you find most difficult about homeschooling?

I didn’t realize that I would be doing almost daily lesson planning, in order to account for the rabbit holes that the kids and I go down, during the day.

Who do you turn to when you need homeschooling advice? Why?

I turn to the homeschooling moms on YouTube and Instagram; they are always full of great advice and offer it in a loving and genuine manner.

What was your biggest misconception about homeschooling prior to becoming a home educator?

The biggest misconception that I had was that homeschooling wasn’t academically rigorous. That has changed greatly by not only picking a curriculum for my children but by being in contact with other homeschool parents and their children.

Which Bible verse helps you most with homeschooling? How?

Deuteronomy 6:6-7. It reminds me of the duty I have to my children and their education.
